When COVID dropped on us six years ago, I was going to yoga 5–6 times a week. I had a monthly unlimited yoga membership. When we were forced to shift to online classes, I tried. It wasn't the same and I stopped attending. If you tried then and was like me and didn't like it, I urge you to try again.

Why? Online teaching has greatly evolved since March 2020 and you have too. Teachers were thrown into the online world had to learn technology and an entirely new way of teaching vs being in a room with their students. Students weren't as familiar with the online world. We were all scared and dysregulated nervous systems on high alert. Let's be honest we were all learning new ways to do "life" through Zoom. Even me! My career than was selling online learning to Fortune 100 corporations to their executives how to have "Presence online". That is the truth. I struggled with online yoga at that point. I love it now. It is how I practice with my teachers. Almost exclusively online. I take mostly prerecorded classes with my mentor do to scheduling conflicts with her live zoom schedule.

Times have changed. We have learned the techniques to deliver exceptional yoga in online formats.

Let's break down the 5 biggest misconceptions around online yoga.

  1. Is Online Yoga less effective than in-person classes? NO!

This is a myth. Many people achieve great results (often better consistency) through detailed cues, multi-angle views, and self-practice in quality online formats.

  2. Can you get personalized feedback in online yoga? YES!

Contrary to the myth, live sessions, chat function, video submissions, and personalized 1:1 time with your online teacher can provide better feedback with playback features and classes that can be designed specifically for a student's goals. We offer 1:1 sessions, community chats to workshop poses and modifications.

  3. Online Yoga is either Bad for Beginners or Not for Advanced Students? NO!

I have heard both. Beginners need in person. Advanced students don't get challenged. Both are bogus. You only have to look at the Instagram yoga challenges that break down advanced acrobats to call Bravo Sierra on the advanced students.

Let me address more the beginner student. When you have a class designed to offer modifications, speak to beginners with intro short sessions, cueing for common body challenges, beginners are able to practice without the layer of anxiety from being a newbie in a studio while receiving the support they need. Newbie Yogis are my first love. Are you a guy that feels awkward in a yoga studio? Online gives you that privacy.

  4. Can you get the same level of community and connection from online formats? YES!

Some of my most cherished yoga relationships are people I have met through mine own online practice. They live around the world. We text and even travel to be together in community. This started with my 300 HR training. I have studied with a master of online yoga teaching to learn how to connect through a recorded class and see students in live online classes. That is why our membership includes scheduled community chats, 1:1, meetings, and pop up live online classes to come.

  5. Do prerecorded classes have benefits over live ones? YES!

No schedule to adhere to from a class time. Yoga on your schedule. You can stop the class and rewind to hear cues, watch the instructor, pause to linger in a pose, even fast-forward (not recommended, but it's your practice after all). Consume the fresh content or take the same class for over and over again. No Judgment and you build consistency without the hassle of making a 5:30 class on Wednesday, the commute, pressure to have your yoga clothes ready, mat in the car, and you select the class that matches what your body is craving. Is today hips, back, hamstrings, twist, yin, 20 minute express or a 60-minute gentle class? You are now the Captain of what your yoga class is going to be today. Hair in a messy bun, shorts and stained t-shirt or pjs. Have you ever skipped a class because you didn't have "the clothes clean", the time to make it to class or back, or really needed a shower BEFORE being in public? Online classes don't care how you show up on your mat.

Online yoga isn't a compromise. It is empowering. It is option rich. Furthermore, it is more economically. . Our classes start at $10 for a drop in rate. Yoga provides freedom to practice where ever you are, whenever you want to, and with WHOM ever you want to have with you. There is nothing sweeter than your dog or cat snuggling next to you in sivasana or watching your child or grandchild practice next to you. I promise today's online classes are NOTHING like what you may have tried in the past. Begin today!
